Character NAME: Orihime Inoue
Canon & MEDIUM: Bleach | Manga

Canon PULL-POINT:
At the end of the Xcution Arc: Ch. 479

Character ABILITIES:

Orihime has a few supernatural abilities. She is able to use spiritual power in the form of the Shun Shun Rikka. Her trademark hairpins become 6 fairies. One of them (Tsubaki) is used for attacks, two (Ayame and Shun o) are capable of healing and three (Baigon, Hinagiku, and Lily) are capable of forming a shield. After the time skip Orhime also develops an ability that combines her offensive and defensive moves called the Shiten Kōshun. This move creates the shield and then automatically returns the force of an attack upon the opponent. Orihime's abilities are unique in that they do not correct the damage caused but instead revert time, because of this she is able to heal massive injuries. Orihime's strengths lie in her defensive capabilities. She has been able to deflect major attacks by both shinigami and arrancar. She is also a very strong healer, her only weakness really showing when she tried to heal one of her own fairies. Her attack capability is rather low, she cannot hold ground against anyone with considerable strength. Since the time skip it has been reviled that her powers have developed, including her attack strength, but it is not clear how much stronger she has become. Orihime uses he abilities to aid her friends and protect them. Her shield and healing abilities are strong, and she is the only one out of her team that has the ability to heal. She has also been forced to use her powers against her will while she was under the control of Aizen.

Aside from her hairpins Orihime also possesses spiritual awareness as well as spiritual power. She is able to sense spiritual energy, to such an extent that she can sometimes sense the energy even when the thing releasing it is behind a barrier. She also has a high enough level of spiritual power that she can withstand being in the vicinity of people much stronger than she is.

As far as common abilities, Orihime is very intelligent despite her "air head" appearance. She was ranked second in her class to the surprise of many of her class mates. Orihime was also a member of the handicrafts club, so it can be assumed she has a basic knowledge of sewing and construction and would be capable of making small repairs or mending various items. She also fancies herself a cook, but her concoctions are often bizarre and unappetizing.

Character PERSONALITY:

On the surface Orihime is an average japanese high school student. She loves spending time with her friends, she studies to make good grades and she works part time at a bakery. She is rather well adjusted for someone who has been through as much as she has. Before ever becoming associated with Ichigo & Co. Orihime's life has been far from ordinary. She was born to an abusive father and a prostitute mother. Her Older brother Sora was the light for her life and he took her away as soon as he turned 18 and raised her himself. Orihime had great admiration for her brother and was truly grateful that he was there to protect her. 6 years later he died and Orihime was forced to live on her own with financial support from a family member. As a momento for her brother Orihime always has her blue hair pins with her. These are the hairpins that she would eventually use to protect her friends.

After her brother's death Orihime had difficulty moving on, wishing for him to protect and care for her again. It was through meeting her friend Tatsuki (and later Ichigo & Co.) and beginning to open up to them that she was able to let her brother go. Because of everything that has happened in her life Orihime becomes extremely loyal to those she cares about. It is her deep desire to protect and take care of her friends that created her spiritual abilities. When Tatsuki was under the attack of a hollow Orihime stood up and vowed to protect her even before her powers had manifested. It was that very fight that gave birth to her spiritual abilities.

It is Orihime's love and loyalty that forces her out into the battlefield every time. She went with Ichigo to Soul Society to help him save Rukia, even though she had only known her in passing. If she was important to Ichigo then she was worth fighting for. She also willingly followed Aizen into Hueco Mundo because she did not want to trouble her friends with more fighting and violence. She was almost upset to find that they had come to save her because she knew they would only be faced with more hardships than she thought she was worth. She is not one to fight unless it is necessary. She is not nearly as strong as her other companions and she knows it. Sometimes the only thing she is capable of is support, but she will stand there and give it until the very end.

Orihime is kind and accepting of everyone she meets. She wants to find the best in anyone, even when others may think there is nothing there. She is very outgoing and not afraid to make the best of a bad situation. She tends to mother those around her, bringing them food or checking in on them when they become sick but she is also very respectful of their wishes and if she knows they would rather be alone she will only hope for their recovery and leave them alone. She is very empathetic and able to pick up on a person's emotional state despite what they may say or do. She also has a bad habit of putting everyone's feelings before herself. When confronted with the idea that maybe Ichigo cared more for Rukia she was ready to surrender before even beginning. It was only thanks to Matsumoto that she was even able to consider that he could care for her too and that she shouldn't give up without a fight.

She is extremely imaginative and often delves into her daydreams leaving everyone around her confused. Despite this she is also able to remain focused when it counts, whether it's durring a battle or studying for school. She maintains extremely high marks in her classes. She was also able to master spiritual techniques extremely quickly, much to Ichigo's chagrin.

Orihime does not have a fighting spirit. She does not have the will to kill someone else and this greatly caps her abilities. She has been told that she should stay off the battle field and leave the fighting to those who have the will for it but she cannot accept this because she wants to become strong enough that she can protect herself. She is tired of being the burden on those around her. She trains hoping to hone her skills enough before she is kidnaped by Aizen. After the war with Aizen Orihime appears to have matured. She appears more determined and willing to fight, something she struggled with before the 18 months passed. It is unclear as to whether or not she can stand her own on a battlefield.

» EXSILIUM INFORMATION
Chosen WEAPON:
Orihime's weapon is a rapier with an estoc edge. This means it has no cutting edge, only a pointed end. It is made of a metal much stronger than the conventional iron or steel, but it is also very light weight which allows for more agility. The hilt of the rapier is an oversized cup style with intricate designs of hibiscus carved around it. The pommel is a bright aqua stone.

This sword is made specifically to be used as a defensive weapon, made exceptionally strong to block and defer attacks from more powerful weapons. The hilt is oversized to be used as a small shield. Despite all of this it does have a very sharp pointed end that can penetrate through armor and can be used offensively if necessary.

Chosen SKILLSET:

In canon Orihime is most certainly not a fighter, but I want her "forced" into it so to speak while in Exilium. She possesses extremely high defense and healing capabilities and with her weapon she should be able to have enough attack power behind her to be not completely useless on the battlefield. She'll get better over time.

First PERSON:
[A young woman with bright orange hair is appearing on the communicator. Her face has a look of slight worry, but she tries to mask that with a more joyful tone.]
Um, Hello?
They told me to use this to communicate so, ah, I'm looking for anyone in room X. I have a key but…I can't find the room in the housing building. I'm sorry! I hope it's not too much trouble.

Third PERSON:
Before arriving here in Exsilium Orihime was unsure if she would ever be strong enough to fight. She was still unsure now but somehow this was different. Maybe it was her new rapier? Maybe it was her new friends? She wasn't sure where this new resolve had come from but she was extremely thankful for it. Someday when she returned to Karakura town, because there was no doubt to her that she would return, she would be able to fight along side her friends instead of weighing them down. She would finally be strong enough for them. Maybe that is where this resolve had come from?

"Koten Zanshun!"

She deploys her shield as she rushes in. Before receiving her weapon here she would have never been so brazen in a fight. Her strength was in the defense, not the offense. Now though, when she held onto her rapier she felt at ease, as if it was telling her she could do this, she could be stronger! She blocked an attack with a perry, then countered with a thrust.

"I won't go easy on you today, ok!"

She called out to her opponent. They nodded back, accepting her challenge. If only her training sessions back at home had been like this, perhaps she would have grown as quickly as she was here.
